Srinagar, Aug 31: The Army and J&K Police Saturday foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LOC) in the Gurez sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district and the operation is underway.
Official sources said that the joint parties opened fire after witnessing suspicious movement in the Gurez sector along the LoC.
They said that after opening the fire, a massive search operation was underway in the area.
“The operation is going on in the hilly terrain and weather is inclement in the area,” officials said adding that additional forces had been rushed into the area.Earlier this week, three terrorists were killed in two separate encounters along the LoC in Tangdhar and Mahil sectors of Kupwara district.
