Measures Adopted to improve the security scenario in J&K

  • Improving the security  and  quality  of  life  of  people  in  Jammu  and

Kashmir is the top priority of the government.

  • Zero tolerance policy against terrorism

o Effective, continuous and sustained action.

o Zero Terror – Plan and Area Domination – Plan

o Demolition of complete terror ecosystem

o De-radicalization efforts

o Crackdown  on  Terror  Finance:  Seizure/Attach/Freeze-  Banning anti-national organizations

o Multi-pronged    strategy     to   prevent      infiltration:       Multi-layered deployment, fencing, technology

o UAPA case – Qualitative Disposal Effort: Monitoring on daily basis

  • Enhancement of Counter Insurgency Grid- Importance to Jammu and Kashmir Police in all operations. The entire terror eco-system is now targeted by the security agencies.
  • Special focus on modernization and strengthening of security equipment
  • Restriction on terror glorification:

o Restriction on public funeral

o Terror supporters removed from Government Jobs.

o Action taken against terrorists in Bar Council

o Terror     supporters      –     unfit     for  government    jobs,    government contracts

Positive outcomes of security measures

  • Marked improvement in citizens life, schools are now functional, record flow of tourists  (2.11  Cr  in  2023),  economic  activities  leading  to increased income generation etc.
  • The G-20 tourism group meeting was held successfully in Srinagar.
  • Shri Amaranth Ji Yatra was successfully conducted in 2023 and 4.5 lakh pilgrims participated in the holy Yatra.
  • After 34 years, the Moharram procession was allowed on the traditional route in Srinagar where nearly 40,000 people took part.
  • The Elections to all the five Parliamentary Constituencies in J&K held peacefully with record voting.
