Ramban, Aug 09: Traffic Police National Highway Ramban realised a fine amount of Rs 24 lakh for traffic rules’ violation in July.

Officials of traffic department National Highway Ramban said under the supervision of SSP National Highway Ramban Rohit Baskotra traffic officials have booked 8102 vehicle operators for different traffic rule violations and realised a fine of Rs 24,65,300 for breaching traffic rules in the month of July.

   

They said that during the period 89 vehicles were seized and one FIR was registered for overloading in public transport vehicles in Doda district.

They said traffic Police booked 1578 vehicle operators for overloading in heavy vehicles ferrying goods.

To maintain lane discipline on National Highway in Ramban district traffic officials have booked 101 number of traffic violators for overtaking/wrong lane driving. To inform the general public about traffic rules, Traffic Police National Highway has conducted 19 traffic awareness programs at different locations in Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur and Reasi districts and on three National Highways falling under traffic police headquarter Ramban.

Officials said to reduce road accidents and as a corrective measure the traffic department had recommended six cases for suspension/cancellation including two driving licenses , three route permits and two registration certificates.

They said to ensure the traffic regulation of vehicles, particularly a difficult stretch of NH-44 from Nashri to Banihal which often remains a big challenge for traffic Police due to ongoing construction works and due landslide/ shooting stone zones which often lead to frequent road blockades and traffic haltes.

They said 24×7 efforts of traffic officials 317329 HMVs- 122035, LMVs-195294 had crossed Chenani- Nashri tunnel during the month of July-2024 only.

SSP traffic Rohit Baskotra said to reduce in road accidents and to save precious human life and instill discipline among the road users the drive against traffic rule, and motor vehicle act violators will remain continue.

He appealed commuters to follow Traffic rules and join hands to make our roads safe for all type of user’s right from pedestrian to vehicle owners.
