Ramban, May 28: Ramban Police arrested four bovine smugglers and rescued 78 bovine animals illegally being transported towards Kashmir on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Tuesday.

Police sources said Ramban Police on the directions of SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar police teams of Chanderkot and Ramban foiled four bovine smuggling attempts and made the arrests and rescued, the animals.

   

They said a Police team of Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Chanderkote, J S Rakwal intercepted two vehicles. During checking 16 bovines were found laden inside both the vehicles, which were tied cruelly and were being transported illegally towards Kashmir. Two persons were arrested.

In another instance, the Police team of Police Station Ramban led by SHO Ramban Vijay Kotwal intercepted two vehicles. During checking 62 Bovines were found laden inside the vehicles, which were tied cruelly and were being transported illegally towards Kashmir Valley. Two persons were arrested.

Cases were registered at Police Station Ramban, under the relevant Sections of law.

They said all four vehicles used in animal smuggling were seized.
