5803 pilgrims embark on Shri Amarnath Yatra from Jammu

Jammu, July 8: Eleventh batch of over 5000 pilgrims Monday left Jammu base camp at Bhagwati Nagar for twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal to the holy shrine of Shri Amarnath in South Kashmir.

Officials said, “A total of 5803 pilgrims, comprising 4521 males, 1139 females, 9 children, 124 Sadhus and 10 Sadhvis left Jammu in 218 vehicles. Of them, 3941 pilgrims, comprising 3125 males, 723 females, 5 children, 82 Sadhus and 6 Sadhvis embarked on pilgrimage through the Pahalgam route in 130 vehicles. 1862 pilgrims, including 1396 males, 416 females, 4 children, 42 Sadhus and 4 Sadhvis opted for the Baltal route. They left Jammu base camp in 88 vehicles,” they informed.
