6537 Amarnath pilgrims leave Jammu for pilgrimage

Jammu, July 2: Maintaining an upward trend, the fifth batch of 6537 pilgrims Tuesday left Jammu base camp at Bhagwat Nagar for twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal to the holy shrine of Shri Amarnath in South Kashmir.

Officials said, “6537 pilgrims, including 5091 males, 1102 females, 19 children, 301 Sadhus and 24 Sadhvis, left this morning in 261 vehicles from Yatri Niwas for pilgrimage.”“Of them, 4431 pilgrims, comprising 3523 males, 680 females, 5 children, 210 Sadhus and 13 Sadhvis embarked on pilgrimage through the Pahalgam route in 156 vehicles. 2106 pilgrims, including 1568 males, 422 females, 14 children, 91 Sadhus and 11 Sadhvis opted for the Baltal route. They left Jammu base camp in 105 vehicles,” they informed.
