Jammu, May 31: Police Friday arrested a man with 500 grams of Ganja in Kanachak area of district Jammu.
“In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, the police have apprehended one Balwant Singh alias Banttu, 38, resident of Kalyanpur, tehsil Marh, district Jammu. The arrest has been made under FIR No. 80/2024, registered under sections 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” a police spokesperson said.
Balwant Singh, son of Bodh Singh, was apprehended on May 31, 2024, during a routine patrol. The accused was found with the contraband in Kalyanpur and immediate action was taken by the vigilant police officers from the Kanachak Police Station.
“The contraband has been confiscated and further investigation is underway. The arrest has been made under “Operation Sanjeevani” of Jammu police to combat the menace of drug trafficking in the region and to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents,” the spokesperson said.
