‘Vajpayee’s ashes to be immersed in J&K rivers also’

The ashes of former Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee will be immersed in J&K’s rivers also. The ashes will be immersed in the Tawi and the Chenab in Jammu, the Jhelum in Kashmir and the Sindhu in Leh.

This was informed here on Monday by BJP leaders including its state president Ravinder Raina, former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Rajesh Gupta, spokesperson Brig. Anil Gupta and senior advocate Lalit Moza at a press conference at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar Jammu.

   

Raina said that urns (Asthi Kalashs) carrying Vajpayee’s ashes shall be brought to Jammu by air tomorrow, and shall reach the BJP state head office Trikuta Nagar at 3:00 PM.

The urns shall remain at the party office for homage to be paid by the public and the party activists.

Thereafter, the urns shall be taken to Harki Pouri at Bahu Fort for immersion in Suryaputri Tawi at 5 PM, he said.

The ashes shall also be immersed at Akhnoor in river Chenab at 5:00 PM on 23 August. The urns will be also be immersed in the Jhelum at Srinagar and the Sindhu at Leh, Raina said.

Raina also informed that all the 41 representatives of the party, MPs (4), MLAs (26) and MLCs (11) will donate their one month salary for the flood victims of Kerela.

“We also appeal to the people of the state to come forward and help the people of Kerela in whatever possible way they can,” the BJP state president said.

Raina said that Kerala has been hit by worst natural calamity and it is the duty every countryman to help the affected people. 

Raina said that BJP salutes the soldiers of Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, RSS Swayamsevaks, NDRF, Kerala Police and other NGOs and volunteers for rendering services to the flood victims in Kerala.

The state BJP, he said, has also offered to the party high command to depute 500 full time party volunteers to help the people of Kerela.

Raina, on behalf of the state BJP appealed to the people of J&K to donate generously for the relief of the Kerala flood victims.
