Srinagar, Aug 06: The Crewel and Chainstitch Exporters and Manufacturers Association (CCEMA) president Sheikh Rais has hailed the endeavour of Directorate of Handicrafts to act against dealers selling fake carpets and handicrafts.

“The active persuasion of Department of Handicrats to curb the unscrupulous activities of many erring traders is seen as a bold and demanding action. Following the news of action against certain seller who sold a machine made carpet in the garb of hand made kashmir carpet, many members of our association, crewel traders, manufacturers and exporters association,  hail the action.” Rais said.

“Similarly we seek action against the sellers of machine made crewel fabrics, made ups and chain stitched items as hand made. If this menace is not checked and stopped vigorously we see that day is not too far when kashmir handicraft will be history. All members of this association pledge to extend full support to the endeavour,” he added.
