Srinagar, June 14: A drug peddler was arrested in south Kashmir’s Shopian district and a heroin-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession on Friday, Police said.
A statement of J&K Police issued here said that Police at a checkpoint established at Palpora Rawalpora crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended.
It said that during his search, a heroin-like contraband substance weighing about 312 grams worth crores of rupees in the international market was recovered from his possession.
The statement said that he has been identified as Hilal Ahmad of Vehil Shopian.
“He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Shopian where he remains in custody,” the Police statement said.
It said that a case FIR No 80/2024 was registered at Police Station Shopian.
