Drug peddler booked under NDPS Act in Kupwara

Kupwara, June 15: A drug peddler was booked under PIT-NDPS Act in Kralgund area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Police said on Saturday.

He has been detained after obtaining formal orders from competent authorities. He has been lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bilawal Jammu.

   

Meanwhile Police in a statement said, “Police Station Kralgund booked one drug peddler namely Abdul Qayoom Mir son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, resident of Pandithpora Qaziabad under PIT-NDPS Act. He has been taken into custody and is presently at central jail Kot-Bilawal Jammu”.

“It is important to mention that many cases have been registered against the drug peddler who was still involved in drug abuse by supplying drugs to the local youth of the area,” reads the statement.

“The general public of Kralgund and Handwara area has appreciated the role played by the Handwara Police in taking action against drug peddlers. Handwara Police is committed to take strict action against such elements as per law,” reads the statement further.
