Man dies, girl injured in Bandipora accident

Bandipora, Aug 26: A 30-year-old man died and a girl was critically injured after a vehicle they were travelling in rolled down a hill along the mountainous region of Panar in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday.

Officials said that a vehicle (JK15B 8256) rolled down the Athwatoo-Bandipora road near Panar village.

   

The vehicle was boarded by Showkat Ahmad Khan, 30, son of Fayaz Ahmad of Turkpora and Umiya Shahnaz, 21, daughter of Shahnaz Ahmad Mir of Quilmuqam.

They were both shifted to the District Hospital Bandipora, where doctors declared Showkat dead.

Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora, Dr Muhammad Shafi Koka told Greater Kashmir that the man was declared dead.

The girl who was under a “panic attack” with no visible injury marks was carefully monitored, and after scans were done, it revealed she had received multiple “internal injuries”, forcing doctors to refer her to a Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.
