Kupwara, Sep 01: Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party President Mir Junaid Sunday announced to contest assembly election from Langate.
He was addressing a public gathering at his Langate residence. Mir said that Langate has been always politically exploited and it was high time for people to rise to the occasion and send him to assembly.
While commenting on Er Rashid, Mir said that once he comes out of jail, it would be interesting to observe whether he continues to advocate for a plebiscite, a stance that has been the cornerstone of his political career.
Mir welcomed Jamaat-e-Islami’s decision to participate in assembly elections but at the same time questioned that it is the same party which would regard contesting election as a big sin. He came down heavily on National Conference for exploiting the rights of people since several decades.
Mir said that he has the privilege of representing India on different international platforms including UNO, so people of Langate should render him a chance to represent them in Legislative Assembly.
Earlier, scores of people from Langate and adjacent villages visited Mir’s house to convince him for contesting assembly election.
