Muzaffar Beigh welcomes decision

Srinagar, Aug 29: Former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Beigh has welcomed the decision of some members of banned Jamat-e-Islami (JeI) decision to participate in assembly polls calling it a crucial move for the region’s healing and progress.

Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Beigh said, “I welcome their decision to contest the upcoming elections.

   

This is a significant and positive step that will go a long way to heal the social and political scars suffered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir in its recent past.”

He said that democratic participation is vital for achieving social and economic justice, adding, “Democratic participation is the best way to fight for social and economic justice and the Jamat in J&K is notable for its contribution in social, religious, and educational spheres.”

Beigh also said that the Jamat’s involvement will add legitimacy to the democratic process and contribute to peace and progress in the Union Territory.
