Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday rebutted the reports suggesting that a special police officer (SPO) was caught pelting stones on tourists in Ganderbal district.
Senior superintendent of police Ganderbal, Fayaz Ahmed Lone told Greater Kashmir that “a news is being circulated by some sections of media that an SPO has been handed over to police for throwing stones on tourists in Ganderbal.”
He said in another news it has been claimed that four youth have been detained for throwing stones on tourist vehicles. “There has been no such stone pelting incident on tourist vehicles in the past 24 hours in the district. The news of an SPO throwing stones on tourist vehicle is about 1 year old,” the SSP said.
He requested the people not to pay heed to such rumours. “Strict action under law will be taken against those indulging in rumour mongering by the police,” he warned.
