The dilapidated condition of a road from K B Pora to Chimmer in Dhamal Hanjipora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district is causing tremendous inconveniences to commuters.

The poor state of the road even spurred protests by the cab drivers and residents last week.

A group of local residents said that the stretch is dotted with numerous potholes, causing them immense hardships.

They said that the deteriorated condition of the road also damage the vehicles passing through the area.

“The road is in a rundown state for the last two years and all our calls for its repairment went unheeded,” said the residents.

They said that on Saturday they, along with a group of cab drivers, also staged a peaceful protest to draw the attention of the authorities of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna towards their plights.

An official said that the work for the macadamisation of the road has already been tendered out.

“The macadamisation process will begin very soon,” added the official.
