Property of drug peddlers attached in Kulgam: Police

Srinagar, June 14: Property worth Rs 1.43 crore of drug peddlers was attached in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday, Police said.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that continuing its action against drug peddlers, Police in Kulgam attached properties (double-storied residential house measuring 1093.50 sq ft and cowshed measuring 437.25 sq ft (both valuing Rs 70 lakh) belonging to drug peddler Bashir Ahmad Ganie of Nassu Badragund, Qazigund, presently lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu under PIT NDPS Act and, newly-constructed two-storied residential house measuring 941.36 sq ft (valuing Rs 73 lakhs) of Ghulam Nabi Kuttay of Kaladrund, Frisal, presently under Police custody.

   

It said that the action was taken under Sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of the NDPS Act of 1985 and was linked with case FIR No 40/2023 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act of Police Station Qazigund and FIR No 26/2024 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act of Police Station Yaripora.

The Police statement said that the properties were identified as illegally acquired properties during an investigation and enquiry conducted by Police in Kulgam.

It said that the properties were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances by these drug peddlers.
