The residents of Zargar Mohalla and Iqbal Colony in Main Town Handwara Sunday expressed strong resentment against the Jal Shakti Department for failing to restore drinking water to them for the last eight days.
The residents said that they were suffering due to lack of drinking water for the last one week. “Even we don’t have water for bathing and cleaning purposes,” said a local.
The residents said that the concerned department was well aware about the fact but still their issue was yet to be resolved.
Meanwhile an official said that the main service line had developed a snag which was being rectified. “We had to lay new pipes to repair the fault. Within a couple of days, water supply will be restored,” he added.
