Srinagar, Aug 08: Social Activist and Chairman RTI Movement Jammu and Kashmir Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat had a meeting with Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale here today.

According to a press release, Dr Raja Muzaffar raised the challenges faced by persons with disabilities especially the visually challenged (blind) people in Jammu and Kashmir . He urged upon the Union Minister to pave a way for setting up of some schools for blind children and youth in J&K.

   

Dr Raja Muzaffar told Union Minister that visually challenged people especially those with 100 percent blindness were not given proper reservation in government jobs.

He demanded that skill development institutions for visually challenged youth be set up in J&K by government and private sector so that this community could get benefitted. Raja Muzaffar invited Union Minister for a conference on visually challenged which would be held in September and Union Minister accepted the invitation

“The Minister accepted my invitation and we would hold this conference in Srinagar where all the issues pertaining to visually challenged and persons with other disabilities would be discussed. It is unfortunate that there are no special schools for persons with disabilities especially visually challenged people in J&K,” said Dr Raja Muzaffar.
