Jammu, Aug 27: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) vice president Ghulam Muhammad Saroori Tuesday filed nomination from Inderwal assembly segment – his bastion in Kishtwar district, as an independent candidate.

Decision came on the last day of filing nomination after he did not get party mandate.

Interestingly, he entered the poll fray without snapping his ties with DPAP just to “respect his people’s aspirations.”

“No, I’ve not snapped ties with my party. (Ghulam Nabi) Azad continues to be my leader. He will always remain so. Decision to file nomination was taken as people of my constituency, whom I’ve represented consecutively since 2002 in the Legislative Assembly, wanted me to contest,” Saroori said.
