Screening committee for registration of Kashmiri migrants reconstituted

Jammu, May 31: The J&K government has reconstituted a screening committee for registration of Kashmiri migrants.

The screening panel, which has been reconstituted in supersession of all previous orders on the subject, will have the Administrative Secretary, Home Department as its chairman while Additional Director General of Police, CID, J&K; Administrative  Secretary, Department of  Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu will be its members.

   

Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), J&K will be its member secretary.

As per its terms of reference, the screening panel will register bonafide migrants who have migrated due to threat to them or their families, after fulfilment of all necessary formalities laid down by the government for registration of these migrants, from time to time.

It will dispose of the applications for registration on case to case basis, on consideration of the threat perception and verification report by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and by the District Magistrate of the concerned district.

The committee will be serviced by the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and the meetings of the committee will be held every quarter.
