Ummat-e-Islami denounces Qazi Yasir’s detention

The Chairman of Ummat e Islami, Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir who was detained Friday night for leading a protest march in Khudwani area of Kulgam district remained in detention for the 4th consecutive day on Thursday.

“Ummat e Islami held a meeting to denounce the continuous incarceration of Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir and said mostly the police would release any leader after their programme is over. However, if we study the arrests of Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir, we find a pattern that he is kept under detention for weeks together whenever detained, without any charge,” a spokesperson of UeI said in a statement.

“Policy of political vendetta against Ummat e Islami will die a slow death as the organisation is spread to grassroots levels in south Kashmir and nobody can take us out,” Moulana Nisar Nayeemi said.

He demanded the immediate release of Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir and other political prisoners.
