Kupwara, Aug 09: A vehicle carrying illicit timber was seized on Friday by the Forest Department in Takiya Chatoosa, Rafiabad area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A forest officials team while acting on a specific information about movement of a load carrier bearing registration number JK01K 3827 with illicit timber was intercepted at Takiya Chatoosa, Rafiabad and upon search of the vehicle almost 63 CFT’s deodar timber was recovered, following which the vehicle was taken to Forest Division Langate.
DFO Langate Izaz Ahmad told Greater Kashmir that the department was steadfast in uncovering the timber smugglers.
He said that strict action will be taken against those who are involved in timber smuggling. DFO Langate appealed to the general public to apprise the department about timber smuggling so that those involved can be brought to justice.
