Water shortage hits several villages in Handwara

Kupwara, Juy 19: The residents of several villages in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Friday said that they were suffering due to lack of water for the last four days.

The villagers including Shatgund Bala, Jahama, Gundrazak, Terina and Bagdaji Nowgam and several other areas said that they have been without drinking water for the past four days, but the concerned department was doing nothing with regard to redressing the issue.

   

The residents said that they were suffering badly due to lack of water during the prevailing heat. “Infact the wells have dried up thereby multiplying our sufferings,” they added.

The residents said that they have been repeatedly requesting the concerned department to restore water but to no avail.

They have sought immediate intervention of Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara Aziz Ahmad Rather in this regard so that the hardships being faced by them may end.
