World Migratory Bird Watching Day observed at Wular lake

Sopore, May 11: Forest department Kandi range Sopore observed migratory bird watching day at Wular lake on Saturday.

The event was held under leadership of Range Officer of Kandi range Sopore Rayees Ahmad, with presence of other employees of the department. During the programme, Range Officer gave a brief of migratory bird and lake conservation efforts. The officials and other participants interacted with the locals and students to explain to them the need to conserve the Wular Lake and its associated avifauna. They explained to them the diversity of migratory birds found on wetlands in Kashmir and also discussed with them the benefits of taking bird watching as a profession and hobby.

   

The participants were later taken for a short boat ride to Wular lake for bird watching which was followed by a jungle walk in Kandi forest range for bird sightings.
