MeT predict intense brief rains in Ladakh

Kargil, Aug 3: The authorities have asked people in the twin districts of Kargil and Leh to remain alert amid the prediction of intense brief rains in many places in the next 24 hours.

As per the Meteorological Centre Leh, brief but intense rain accompanied by strong wind, thunderstorms, and lightning is very likely at many places in Ladakh.

   

All residing in areas vulnerable to flash floods or near local Nallahs have been advised to remain alert.

“Monsoon showers are often brief but intense and occur suddenly. The shower may generate flash floods at many places of Ladakh,” Head MeT Centre Leh, Sonam Lotus said.

Meanwhile, Kargil Police advised people to stay alert.

“To all those on a picnic in Zanskar: If you are staying near Stod River or Tserap River, please be advised to relocate immediately due to adverse weather conditions as per the latest weather advisory. Stay safe and exercise caution,” an advisory issued by the Kargil Police said.
