104 feet high National Flag hoisted at Teetwal

Kupwara, Nov 21: General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai Tuesday dedicated the 104 feet high National Flag to the citizens along the Line of Control in Teetwal area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The flag named as Azmat-e-Hind was hoisted with an aim to instill pride of Tiranga amongst the common masses besides it symbolizes national pride.

   

The inauguration of the flag was followed by a cultural programme by the students of Army Goodwill School (AGS), Teetwal and the people of Karnah valley. Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai interacted with the citizens who had arrived at the venue in large numbers.

Later GOC 15 Corps inaugurated the 1st edition of Tiranga Cup Cricket Tournament at Shan-e-Teetwal Cricket ground.

GOC 28 Div, Major General Girish Kalia, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah Dr Gulzar Ahmad along with Army, police and civil administration officers were present on the occasion.

The people of Karnah appreciated the Army for this unique initiative. “The towering 104 feet flag symbolizes national pride and promotes the spirit of unity among the people of Karnah valley. Teetwal has always been on the forefront with regard to national and patriotic activities so hoisting one of the tallest national flags here, has added to its beauty,” Ajaz Ahmad a local from Teetwal said while talking to media on the sidelines of the event.

Later GOC 15 Corps inaugurated the Community Radio Station located at Trehgam area of Kupwara.

The radio station will initially air programmes for six hours a day, two in morning, two in the afternoon and two in the evening. It will serve as a valuable platform for local engagement and providing a voice to the community. It will foster communication, share information, promote cultural diversity and empower individuals to discuss issues relevant to their locality.

The GOC 15 Corps also laid the foundation for Naujawan Club which will consist of vocational Training centers, education hub, Kashmiri cultural centre, Barkat Bistro bakery and sports infrastructure.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan, Commander Hajipir Brigade and other officials of civil administration were present on the occasion.
