All EVMs of Rajouri, Poonch shifted to Rajouri College

Rajouri, May 26:   All the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) of seven assembly constituencies in Rajouri and Poonch districts, where voting for Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency was held yesterday, have been shifted today to the EVM strong room established at Government Post Graduate College Rajouri. Counting for these seven assembly constituencies will take place in the college on June 4.

Government post graduate college Rajouri was earlier the EVM dispatch and collection centre for Rajouri assembly constituency whereas the institution has now been converted into a EVM strong room and counting center.

   

Officials said that EVMs of all four assembly constituencies of Rajouri district and three assembly constituencies of Poonch were shifted in the EVM strong room in PG college Rajouri.

All these EVMs were shifted from respective EVM collection centre to this strong room on Sunday. Tight security arrangements with contingents of police, other security forces, magistrates and other senior officers accompanied the vehicles used for transportation of EVMs.

They said that after establishing the EVM strong room in the college, the authorities have now taken up the work to finalize the rain means required to establish counting centres in the college.

They added that the counting of votes in EVM in respect of all seven assembly constituencies of districts will take place in Rajouri College on June 4 where as the counting for all other eleven assembly constituencies falling under Anantnag Rajouri parliamentary seat and located in Kashmir valley will take place in Anantnag.
