Driver dies after his dumper rolls down gorge in J-K’s Ramban

Banihal, Aug 28: A dumper driver died after his vehicle skidded off the under construction road and plunged into a deep gorge in Khari tehsil of J&K’s Ramban today morning.

Police identified the deceased driver as Muhammad Iqbal Khan (40), son of Abdul Majeed Khan, resident of Chanpa Batote.

   

A police official said that the accident occurred near Hanjoos on Siran – Sirachi link road, adding soon after receiving the information, local residents, QRT Khari volunteers, and Khari police rushed to the spot and a rescue operation was initiated.

The critically injured driver was taken to SDH Banihal from where he was referred to GMC Anantnag for special treatment, but he succumbed near Banihal – Qazigund four-lane tunnel, said police.

A case has been registered at Police Station Banihal and legal formalities are being conducted, said the official.
