Reasi attack: Attempts being made to push Jammu into turmoil, says LG

Srinagar, June 10: Lieutenant Governor, Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha on Monday said that nefarious designs were being hatched by elements inimical to peace to push Jammu region into turmoil.

He said those responsible for the attack on the bus carrying pilgrims in J&K’s Reasi will not go unpunished.

   

Speaking to reporters in Jammu, Sinha said that nefarious plans are being hatched by anti-peace elements to push Jammu region into turmoil. He vowed that elements behind Reasi attack will be dealt with strongly and won’t be left unpunished.

“This is a tragic incident. The terrorists attacked the driver after which the bus lost control and plunged into a deep gorge. As per reports available as of now 9 persons have been killed and 33 others are injured. 18 have been admitted to GMC Jammu while 14 are being treated at Narayana Hospital Katra,” LG Sinha said.

He also said that PM Modi and Home Minister were also monitoring the situation and that a joint operation is going on in the area to track down the attackers.

“I assure nation that those responsible for this dastardly attack won’t be left unpunished. This was a nefarious plan of elements inimical to peace to push Jammu region into turmoil,” LG Manoj Sinha said.

He added that their priority is to ensure that those injured in the incident are saved and “we know there is no compensation for the dead, but we have announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for family members of those killed in the incident and Rs 50 thousand for the injured.”
