IAF Group Captain Farooq Fareed superannuates

Rajouri, Mar 31: Indian Air Force (IAF) Group Captain, Farooq Fareed Nabi, son of the soil and resident of Rajouri, superannuated today after rendering 33 years of distinguished service to the motherland.

He paid his last tribute to the fallen heros at the National War Memorial, New Delhi.

   

With a distinguished service record spanning decades, Group Captain Farooq Fareed stood as a beacon of dedication and commitment to the Indian Air Force and the nation at large, his family members including Dr Anees A Nabi said. During his last interaction with the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, the CAS wished him good luck for his future endeavours and thanked him for his services to the Nation.

The tenure of the Group Captain in the IAF has been characterised by unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and a deep routed sense of duty, Dr Anees said. Throughout the career, the officer exemplified the highest standards of professionalism and integrity that earned him admiration of his subordinates, peers and superiors alike, he said.

“He has been an authority on Air Defence Radars, Tropo Communication and Electronic Warfare field.” Dr.Anees further said. He has extensive operational experience in Op Rakshak, OP Vijay, and Op Prakaram and Commanded (Controlled) the Defence Satellites after his Hi- Tech training at ISRO.He was Director Indigenisation, Director Air Force Publication and Quality Assurance at Air HQ besides commanding a frontline Indian Air Force Base.

The officer is revered for his compassion and empathy towards his fellow servicemen and their families and also to the general populace at large. He is an avid skier, trekker, and a Squash player. During his farewell address he expressed his gratitude to his mentors, colleagues and family for their unwavering support throughout his career. He also spoke that it was a privilege and honour to serve the nation in uniform and pledged to continue so even after his retirement.
