In 35 wards of Srinagar, SMC ready with 43 machines, 2500 personnel to deal with snow clearance measures: Commissioner Owais Ahmad

Srinagar, Feb 16: Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Owais Ahmad Friday asserted that men and machinery of the Corporation have been put on alert and kept ready to deal with snow clearance measures.

He said be it a matter of snow clearance, dewatering, establishment of control rooms or deployment of field staff  in all wards of Srinagar district, the Corporation is fully geared up to deal with the situation.

   

“We have 35 wards in Srinagar district for which we have kept 43 snow clearance machines, 127 mobile dewatering pumps and over 3500 field staff on alert-mode to deal with snow clearance measures. We ensure people of Srinagar city do not face inconvenience,” Commissioner Owais Ahmad exclusively told Greater Kashmir.

Besides, we have permanent pumping stations in place in addition of hi-tech machinery this year to provide convenience to people during weather vagaries.

He said the drainage network in Srinagar city has been improved  a lot in past few years due to the Smart City Project interventions and efforts are on to make the water draining-out mechanism more better in future.
