Jammu, June 4: J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina Tuesday stated that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would surely form the government at the Centre and Narendra Modi would become the Prime Minister for the third time.

He was responding to media queries outside the Counting Centre at Bikram Chowk in Jammu after BJP candidate Jugal Kishore Sharma was declared elected.

Beaming with joy, Raina, besides other senior party leaders, accompanied Jugal, demonstrating victory signs, said, “In a democracy, people are the real kingmakers. Aur Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander.”

J&K BJP president said that Congress was lagging behind. “It was far behind BJP. NDA has performed well all across the country. It will form a government as it is on the threshold of crossing 300 seats. Soon the Modi government will be in place for the third time. People have voted overwhelmingly for BJP, for NDA.”

“Still several rounds (of vote-count) are there to be completed. We hope we will improve our tally,” he exuded confidence. “We are very happy that BJP got decisive mandate from Jammu and Udhampur and our both candidates i.e., Jugal Kishoreji and Dr Jitendra Singhji have won with a huge margin,” Raina said.

“At the same time, I congratulate all winners viz., Engineer Rashid, Mian Altaf and Aga Syed Ruhullah. In democracy, people decide about their representatives. People are all powerful. We will have to accept the mandate,” he said, in response to a query about the defeat of former Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.

Jugal Kishore, enthused with his victory, thanked senior party leaders including Raina, Ashok Koul, Sat Sharma; people of Jammu, Samba, Reasi for making him victorious.

“I’m humbled with this love. You all worked hard. It is because of your contribution and blessings, I could achieve this victory. I assure you that I’ll work with full devotion and serve people with unflinching commitment,” he said.

Earlier in the morning, while counting was in progress, Jugal, while speaking to the media, said, “We’re confident that we’re going to win with an overwhelming majority as we’ve served people with dedication. They’ve voted for us.”

“They are habitual of making excuses. They are doing politics,” he stated, while responding to queries about Congress allegations of manipulation.

“Verdict of people will be acceptable,” Jugal said.
