“Kashmir has witnessed 1900 fire incidents this year while as the number was over 2500 in year 2022. The decline came after the department increased the frequency of awareness programmes in public and made them aware about the judicious use of electric gadgets in winters and adhere strictly to do’s and don’ts,” Assistant Director Fire & Emergency Services Aqib Hussain Mir told Greater Kashmir.

He said since the incumbent Director took charge of the office, the frequency of awareness programmes has been increased and directions were issued to command officers.

He also said during awareness programmes the officials insist upon people to strictly adhere on preventive measures, life safety, and fire protection etc. to contain fire incidents.

“This endeavour led to the decline in fire incidents in valley,” the official asserted.
