Srinagar, June 5: Paras Health, a leading multispecialty hospital in Srinagar, emphasised the importance of proper waste management in preventing vector-borne diseases.

In light of World Environment Day, the hospital released guidelines to educate the public on minimising breeding grounds for disease vectors like mosquitoes, ticks, and rodents. Improper waste disposal creates environments conducive to vector proliferation, leading to diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.

According to Dr Masood Tanvir, Director internal medicine at Paras Health Srinagar, following preventive measures should be observed to minimize vector breeding including proper waste segregation, timely waste disposal, and maintenance of clean surroundings.

Dr Masood Tanvir further said, “Effective waste management is crucial in controlling the spread of vector-borne diseases.”
