New Delhi, July 28: In a significant reshuffle, the President of India Droupadi Murmu has announced the appointment of several Governors.

The appointments which were made are Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde (Governor of Rajasthan), Jishnu Dev Varma (Governor of Telangana), Om Prakash Mathur (Governor of Sikkim),  Santosh Kumar Gangwar (Governor of Jharkhand), Ramen Deka (Governor of Chhattisgarh), C H Vijayashankar (Governor of Meghalaya), C.P. Radhakrishnan, currently the Governor of Jharkhand with additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra, Gulab Chand Kataria, currently the Governor of Assam, has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

   

Similarly Lakshman Prasad Acharya, currently the Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and will also hold additional charge as the Governor of Manipur. Additionally, the President has appointed K. Kailashnathan as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.

The President of India has accepted Banwarilal Purohit’s resignation as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. These appointments will take effect from the dates the appointees assume charge of their respective offices.
