Srinagar, June 26: Security forces have been put on high alert after a villager claimed to have spotted two suspicious armed men in Punjab’s Pathankot, officials said on Wednesday.

Soon after the information reported, the Punjab Police along with the contingent of Army and Border Security Force (BSF), launched a massive search operation in Pathankote.

   

“The search operation in Pathankot and catchment areas including Bamial was being carried out,” an official said and added, “The security forces have been put on high alert to contain the suspicious movement”.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Border Ranger Amritsar Rakhesh Kaushal told media persons that a joint operation of the Punjab Police, BSF and Army is being carried out in the Bamial area.

On Tuesday night a villager in Pathankot’s Kot Bhattian informed police about suspicious movement of two armed men in the area, prompting police and other security agencies to launch searches.
