Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remains open

Ramban, June 30: The Srinagar- Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of light medium vehicles, one- way traffic of heavy vehicles for Kashmir on Sunday.

Traffic authorities said traffic movement remained slow due to the breakdown of two heavy vehicles and due to single-lane road stretches at Dalwass, Mehar Cafeteria, and between Maroog and Kishtwar Pathar areas passing through Ramban district.

   

Officials monitoring traffic regulations said that despite slow traffic movement hundreds of light medium vehicles crossed the Nashri-Banihal tunnels till late this evening.

They said heavy vehicles released from Jakhani Udhampur in the afternoon are heading towards Kashmir in a regulated manner.

They further said the National Highway is open and vehicles are heading towards their respective destinations in Kashmir and Jammu.

Meanwhile, traffic authorities said, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, light-medium including vehicles carrying Shari Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims would be allowed to ply on either side of highway on Monday.

The cut-off timing for Srinagar bound has been fixed from 7 am to 12 am from Nagrota, Jammu and 8 am to 1 pm from Jakhani, Udhampur.

Similarly, the cut-off timing for Jammu-bound light-medium vehicles has been fixed from 11-30 am to 2 pm from Qazigund Kashmir on Monday.

They said heavy vehicles would be allowed towards Jammu from Qazigund, Kashmir after 7 pm evening on Monday.
