Trekker from Delhi dies due to extreme weather conditions in Gangbal

Ganderbal, Aug 30: A 44-year old trekker from Delhi who was part of a 15-member trekking group to Gangbal in Kashmir’s Ganderbal has died apparently due to extreme weather conditions along the route near Satsar.

Upper reaches including the Gangbal route witnessed inclement weather conditions, including snowfall on Friday.

   

A police official told Greater Kashmir that they have recovered the body of the trekker, whom he identified as Rohit Syal, a resident of Delhi.

He said that the trekker had complained of discomfort earlier and due to the adverse weather his health deteriorated and died.

The official said that the trekker was brought to trauma hospital Kangan for medical- legal formalities.

The police official said that further investigations have been initiated.
