Srinagar, June 01: To destroy the ecosystem of narcotics across north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Police have registered 95 cases under NDPS Act and arrested 171 drug peddlers including 44 hard-core drug peddlers who have been booked under PIT NDPS in the first five months of year 2024.

A police spokesperson in a statement said that contraband and psychotropic substances worth 51.62 crores (value of contraband in black market) has also been recovered and seized. 15 vehicles which were used for NDPS activities in the district were also seized.

   

During the past five months, illegal properties of 16 notorious drug peddlers worth 5.5 crores have also been attached, the spokesperson said.

The police requested community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood.

The police vowed that persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. “Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” statement added.
