New Delhi, Aug 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today presented four BHISHM (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita & Maitri) Cubes to the Government of Ukraine.
The innovative medical units are designed to provide swift and effective treatment for the injured, contributing to the ongoing efforts to save lives in the conflict-affected nation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for India’s timely assistance, acknowledging the critical role the BHISHM Cubes will play in expediting medical care for those in need.
Each BHISHM Cube is equipped with essential medicines and medical equipment necessary for first-line care in various injury and emergency situations. The units include surgical tools sufficient to operate a basic Operation Room, capable of managing 10-15 surgeries per day. Additionally, each Cube is designed to handle approximately 200 cases involving trauma, bleeding, burns, fractures, and other medical emergencies. The Cubes also have the ability to generate limited amounts of power and oxygen, enhancing their utility in crisis conditions.
To ensure the effective operation of these medical units, a team of experts from India has been deployed to provide initial training to Ukrainian personnel. This initiative underscores India’s ongoing commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, building on previous efforts that have largely focused on medical aid.
In addition to the BHISHM Cubes, India also handed over 10 generators to support Ukraine’s infrastructure needs during these challenging times.
