Governor Satya Pal Malik said on Saturday that necessary measures would be taken for the promotion of industry in Jammu and Kashmir. 

Governor, according to an official statement, said this while interacting with a joint delegation of industrial bodies of the state. 

A joint delegation of Federation of Industry Jammu, Federation of Industry Kashmir, Kashmir Economic Alliance, Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu led by their respective chairmen met the governor at the Raj Bhavan in Jammu on Saturday.

The delegation discussed some issues of  urgent nature with regard to industrial sector which include extension of  time and review of capping for availing the benefits of recently announced industrial package.

Governor observed that necessary measures would be taken for the redressal of these issues and promotion and development of industrial sector in the state.

Government of India has recently extended new incentives on the pattern of North East states to Jammu and Kashmir. 

Commenting on the development, governor had said that the new incentives under revised industrial development scheme (IDS) to Jammu and Kashmir on the pattern of Northeast states would boost investment and create employment opportunities for the local youth in the state. 

“The new incentives extended to the state under industrial development package would further give a boost to investment in Jammu and Kashmir State especially in MSME sector, creating new job avenues for the local youth, revenue for the government and a huge fillip to the state economy,” the governor had said. 

He had observed that the package announced by the Union government would go a long way in giving major boost to industrial sector in the state.
