Reconsider Physical Verification of Pensioners

Representational Image

Dear All,

I was deeply pained and disappointed to read in the GK dated July 26, 2024, about the requirement for elderly pensioners to undergo physical verification amid the current heatwave. The extreme temperatures pose significant risks, including heat stroke and dehydration, especially for our senior citizens who are already vulnerable due to various health conditions.

Given the well-documented challenges of heat exposure for the elderly, such a requirement during peak summer months is not only inconvenient but could potentially exacerbate existing health issues. As the senior citizens’ page is widely read by stakeholders and administrators alike, I felt it crucial to bring this matter to everyone’s attention. In light of the advancements and success of Digital India, I urge the concerned authorities to reconsider this approach and take into account the humanitarian aspects of this issue. An alternative solution that ensures the safety and well-being of our senior citizens should be prioritized.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Regards,

Dr. Arif Maghribi Khan
