Rajouri, June 3: Heavy rainfall on Monday afternoon brought much needed respite from heatwave and rising temperature conditions in areas of Rajouri district. Power supply also got disrupted at many places due to wind storm.
Locals of Rajouri informed that temperature in the district witnessed spike during last one week and people were facing challenges due to rise in temperature.
The locals added that severe heat conditions were being witnessed in the district on Monday morning but weather took turn in afternoon hours and rainfall started at around 3 PM.
Akshay Saini, a local resident, informed that rainfall continued for almost two hours in all the parts of the district bringing down temperature and giving much needed respite from hot conditions. He said that temperature has received a major decline due to heavy rainfall.
Rakesh Sasan, a farmer while expressing happiness said that maize sowing season is on cards for which moisture in land is prerequisite and today’s rainfall will provide this moisture to some extent. He added that farmers in all those areas can sow their maze crop where heavy rainfall last for around two hours.
Reports of power supply disruptions at many places in the district have also been received because of faults in power transmission lines due to windstorm.
