Committed to equitable development across all regions: Azad

Srinagar, Mar 11: Chairman Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that his party is committed to equitable development across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a press release, he was addressing a public meeting at Devsar, Kulgam today. Azad pledged to introduce law to safeguard land and job opportunities in the region if elected to power.

He emphasised the need to address the suffering of the people and outlined a procedural path through which the legislative assembly could enact such a law. He said, if elected to power, this initiative would be his foremost priority.

“When the government issued land eviction orders, our party was the only one that took to the streets. It was my party which fought against land eviction orders, so bulldozers were stopped. I met the Home Minister in Delhi,” Azad said.

He stressed the importance of restoring statehood, noting that the government has assured in Parliament that statehood will be reinstated after elections. Azad emphasised the disparity in electricity billings, pointing out that while the poor struggle, there should be a clear distinction between business owners and low-income individuals.

He vowed that under his government, those with low incomes would receive free electricity. Azad further promised to accelerate development in the J&K UT, with new infrastructure including roads, colleges, and schools. He promises to establish additional districts, hospitals, and expand road networks for better accessibility.
