LS Polls | Contest tough in north Kashmir constituency: PDP candidate

Baramulla, Apr 13: Former Rajya Sabha member and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for north Kashmir (Baramulla) Parliament seat for the upcoming Lok Sabha (LS) elections Fayaz Mir on Saturday stated that it will be a tough competition in his constituency as he was fighting against two prominent leaders as his opponents in the elections.

Peoples Conference has announced the name of party president Sajad Lone and National Conference has announced name party Vice President Omar Abdullah as their candidate from north Kashmir.

“Omar Abdullah’s grandfather was the Prime Minister here, then he became the Chief Minister (CM), his father (Farooq Abdullah) also was the CM here. Omar Abdullah has been a CM. So, there will be a competition, but the decision has to be made by the people,” Mir told reporters on the sidelines of the party meeting held in Khoja Bagh Baramulla.

He said Omar Abdullah has to answer what his three members of parliament have done since they were sent to the lower house in Parliament in 2019. “They have to answer for it. They have to answer for breaking the PAGD. If they are making tall claims of fighting to save Article 370, people know that they already had three members in parliament when Article 370 was abrogated,” he said.
