Srinagar, June 23: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) has welcomed the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the process for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls has started and the statehood to J&K was on an anvil.
In a statement, he has termed the announcement as dawn of a new hope adding that the Center would announce both assembly elections and the statehood simultaneously.
“The statement of Prime Minister Narindra Modi about holding of assembly elections and restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir was most welcome as it would end the prevailing socio political uncertainty,” Hakeem Yaseen said.
PDF Chairman said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were suffering for want of their own elected government for last 10 years adding that PM’s statement about holding of assembly elections and restoration of statehood has come as a big relief to them. He said center can no longer afford to usurp democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for long as the proxy government has miserably failed to deliver on all fronts.
