Youth Congress calls for urgent action on power shortage

Srinagar, June 26: Yasir Mandoo, Youth Congress President Srinagar, condemnned the government’s prioritisation of cosmetic projects over addressing pressing issues like the persistent power shortage in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a statement, despite repeated assurances, the government has yet to implement effective measures to alleviate the suffering of the residents in the region. This ongoing power shortage severely impacts daily lives, hindering economic activities, disrupting education, and causing immense inconvenience to the people of J&K.

Yasir Mandoo criticised government spending on projects like smart city instead of fulfilling basic needs. He also condemns charging hefty fees for smart meters without providing adequate electricity in return.

Mandoo urged the government to take immediate steps to address the power shortage crisis and fulfill its responsibility towards the citizens of the region.  Despite assurances from the government, the situation remains dire, with residents enduring prolonged power outages and facing undue hardships.
