Gear up security grid to meet upcoming challenges: DIG Bhat

Udhampur, June 1: DIG Udhampur Reasi Range Rayees Mohammad Bhat Saturday directed the officers to gear up the security grid and remain mobile in their respective areas to avoid any untoward incident in the wake of upcoming security challenges including Shri Amarnath Yatra.

He issued these directions while chairing a crime and security review meeting of district Udhampur at Conference Hall DPL Udhampur.

   

During the meeting, several crucial aspects of improving the quality of investigation and disposal of crime cases particularly UA(P)A, NDPS and bovine smuggling were deliberated upon. Officers present in the meeting were directed to maintain the record and keep surveillance over the activities of drug peddlers, bovine smugglers, repeated offenders, OGWs, surrendered and released terrorists etc of their respective areas.

In the wake of upcoming security challenges viz., Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2024; security of National Highway; recent terrorist activities in the district especially in Basantgarh area, officers were directed to gear up the security grid and remain mobile in their respective area to ensure alertness to avoid any untoward incident.

It was further impressed upon the SHOs to personally supervise the working of CCTNS and regularly synchronize the data with the State Data Centre. Beat books should be properly maintained and frequently checked by the concerned SHOs, DIG ordered.

Addressing the issue of drugs, he directed it to be the top priority among crime heads. Bhat stressed the officers to take strict and well-planned action against the criminals involved in the NDPS trade.

Further the officers were also directed to take strict action against drug peddlers and bovine smugglers, as the trade was often associated with various other unlawful activities including transportation of criminals and unlawful material which might lead to law and order issues.

“Strict action must be initiated against the vehicle owners, whose vehicles are repeatedly used in these illegal activities and they should be booked under PSA,” DIG directed.

The meeting was attended by Joginder Singh, SSP Udhampur; Baljit Singh, Additional SP Udhampur; Prehlad Kumar, DySP Headquarters Udhampur; Manjeet Singh, SDPO Ramnagar and all SHOs of district Udhampur.
