Peaceful Parliamentary Polls | ADGP L&O lauds J&K Police

Srinagar, June 8: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed and Law and Order, Vijay Kumar visited the Armed Police Complex (APC) in Parihaspora on Saturday to interact with the cops and officers of the armed units following the conclusion of the parliamentary polls.

The event was a joint darbar for the personnel of the IRP-3rd, IRP-9th, IRP-20th, and 21st Battalions.

   

In his address, ADGP L&O Kumar praised the officers and personnel of the J&K Police and security forces for their significant contributions in ensuring that the elections were peaceful and incident-free. He attributed the safe and encouraging environment that saw a high voter turnout to the dedication and hard work of the Police and security forces.

The ADGP L&O stressed the importance of maintaining this momentum for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and the Assembly elections later this year.

He Kumar also solicited feedback from the Police personnel about their experiences and the challenges they faced during the five-phased parliamentary election duties in J&K. He listened attentively to the genuine grievances presented by the personnel concerning service matters.

A total of 34 personnel made oral representations regarding transfers due to domestic issues, and the ADGP L&O issued immediate directions for their transfers to address their concerns.

Emphasising the importance of public interaction, the ADGP L&O urged the personnel to exhibit good behaviour, especially during the Amarnath Yatra duties, as yatris from across the country visit Kashmir for the yatra.

He also highlighted the need for the personnel to be smartly turned out, alert, and to take pride in wearing their uniforms, underscoring that the J&K Police is regarded as one of the most professional Police forces in the country.

The darbar was attended by several high-ranking officials, including DIG Armed Police Kashmir Shahid Mehraj, DIG IRP Abdul Qayoom, and Staff Officer to ADGP Armed SSP Dalip Kumar.

Also present were APC Parihaspora-based commandants, SSP Commandant IRP 21st Battalion Mahmood Ahmed, SSP Commandant IRP-3rd Battalion Hakim Munshi, SSP Dy Co I/C CO IR-20th Battalion Munir Ahmad, SSP APCR Kashmir Azhar Bashir and other officers and personnel from the four units.
